Open Door Japan ("we", "us", "our") operates the Open Door Japan mobile app and website at opendoorjapan.com, helping foreign residents find foreigner-friendly rental housing in Japan.

Account information. When you sign up we collect your email address and (if you use Google / Apple sign-in) your name and avatar URL provided by the OAuth provider.
Usage information. Properties you save, search filters you set, properties you swipe, and the date/time of these actions.
Push notification tokens. If you opt in to notifications, we store a device push token so we can notify you about new listings.
Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number; we receive a confirmation that payment succeeded and a Stripe payment identifier.
Inquiry information. If you contact a landlord through the app, we pass your name, email, the property ID, and your message to the landlord and to our notification email.
Technical information. Standard server logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps) collected by our hosting providers.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for behavioral advertising.
We rely on the following processors to operate the service. Each processes your data only on our behalf and under their own privacy policy:
We keep your account data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it (for example, payment records kept for tax / accounting purposes).
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing opendoorjapanapp@gmail.com. We will respond within a reasonable period and in any case no later than 30 days.
You may also withdraw consent to push notifications at any time from your device settings.
We use TLS in transit, encrypted storage at rest through our service providers, and row-level security on our database. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data we will notify you in line with applicable law.
Our service providers may process your data outside Japan (in particular in the United States and Europe). They are bound by data protection commitments equivalent to those required by Japanese law.
Our service is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the latest changes were made. Material changes will be announced in the app.
